Strategies for Emyn-nu-Fuin, the new Mirkwood zones east of Ingrove

Webs and randoms in Emyn

There are destroyable webs blocking certain exits that can be destroyed in similar way as cobwebs at Mormaeg, they need oil/alcohol/magic to make them burn so if you go exploring, stock up on these items before you head in. Walking or fleeing into the webs can temporarily trap you and sometimes even summons mobiles (spiders or vines).

There's a few random exits where groups can get split up but the biggest danger is getting stuck on roots and meeting the other side of the race war.

Some areas of the forest shift over time (the area with the grey fungus - they blind you for a few seconds if you breathe their spores - and drinking black water makes you thirsty). In the orbs area, exits west or north open eventually.

Entangled growth mobile

Entangled growth mobile splits into 2 mobiles (malicious undergrowth) when attacked with a delay and those two also split into other two like that (but not further). There's also new gnarled tree (Oakscar) (different than the one summoned by the oaks) in one area, who is a quest mob providing +6db bonus (not compatible with growth/vigour).

Ferns

When attacked the 'ferns' mob will summon a random number of hornet swarms (1-5 ish). The ferns cannot summon while bashed. The hornet swarms are no-bash and can poison. Hornets auto attack anyone fighting the ferns they live in.

Wisent

There are several different wisent mobs in Mirkwood (some type of large herbivore, several are aggressive). Most of them can bash, and they bash fairly well (much better then boar mobs).

DTs in Emyn

The map above contains all DTs and dangerous falls that are in these zones. NWD from boulders isn't really a DT though (there is area below where chunk of metal loads and the damage on this fall is high, but usually not lethal). /Elestir

Spiders

Green spiders put you into cocoon like the ones in Theddins mines. A large, fanged spider sneaks and backstabs and can be butchered for a severed spider-fang (inferior to the fang orcs can get from the Kraksh for the chelicera) which might be useful as a reeq weapon for Zaugurz scouts (as it is pre-enchanted with +1 damage enchant). Cocoon

If you get stuck in cocoon you can use command “cut cocoon” to cut yourself free only if there is a knife on your belt. You can also cut other people free with “cut cocoon”. If you are inside cocoon it takes ~5 times to cut cocoon before you can get out. If you don't cut yourself free and noone comes to help you die in cocoon in 20min. I guess only way to kill the spiders who cocoon you is to hitflee and wait for webs to wear off from you after each flee?

Fetish

Some orc mobs drop fetishes, you can open them with “rip fetish”. Crude fetish is worthless but other fetishes like vile fetish can contain a gem.

Durbuk commanders: Ghagul, Shabarakh, Urumurk and Orgolk

  • Black-thorned wristband may load on either of them (low chance, but non-exclusive).
  • cunning Durbuk-hai shaman cures blinds, casts ventriloquate and can load dark draught lore in pouch (for orcs only)

  • when shamans yell, reckless orcs come
