General info

  • There has been several management changes lately, and not just Rohan. Currently, I believe Gruenthar has the most control over this area.
  • The zones around Rohan have the same mudlle as the Redhorn pass, you can port west from all the zones but you cannot portal to Lorien.

Maybe this should be reversed? I had no trouble portalling from Rohan to Lorien, although I haven't tried portalling west from Rohan. - Belamir

You can go from east of the river in Rohan to Lorien no problem. You cannot port from Rohan to OiE anymore (you used to be able to) so they have definately added more mudlle in the last few months. - Elemmire

  • As a whitie, do not attack Saruman, you get align loss.
  • Whities can rent and rent horses at the ford in the Isen, but shouldn't cast there (or end up in jail) (Innkeeper doesn't care about the casting though)
  • More Info on Saruman on the SarumanPage

A farmer
 loc: west of Isengard
He carries a note (once in pouch, once in inventory) about his
wheat deliveries to Isengard. You can frustrate his deliveries to Yerik by picking the

Blue boxes indicate what seems to be the highest chance of a load for a particular item. Feel free to update/argue about these as you see fit. - Belamir

It seems the type of scrolls from Saruman are completely random. (E.g. heal scroll for bsb is possible) Maybe ebony is considered to be worse reward than ivory though. /Elestir
I don't know whether it is a coincidence or not, but I have been getting magic blast scrolls a lot for the Book of Kormanole. - Belamir
Out of interest you cannot focus arda rings anymore. You used to be able to but it seems it got changed. /Elemmire
Could you, please, fill in dates of when you got given reward instead of just using “Yes”. The management are changing it constantly so it would give more useful info to know when given item loaded last time. /Elestir

Maybe ivory and ebony scrolls don't count as same type of reward. Ivory is imo considered better reward, so maybe there should be 2 columns for scrolls. What do you think? - Elestir

Do ivory and ebony scrolls, each as a whole, differ in any way, though? - Belamir

Yes, they do. Some spells seem to only be possible on certain type of these scrolls or at least they are much more likely to appear for respective types (such as sanctuary usually appearing on clear ivory scrolls, rarely or never on ebony and deep ebony ones, etc.). - Elestir

Perhaps the collumns should be in different order. From my observation the order of rewards should be like this: circlet, orb, scroll, picks, claymore, ruby, emerald - Elestir

I read somewhere on the official MUME forums (bug board I think) that ivory scrolls recite only on self, and that that was working as designed. Can anyone confirm this, etc.? ..this would be another argument for splitting ivory from ebony scrolls in the reward matrix. -Belamir

It is probably regular bug common for all scrolls. I dont share Gothmog's view that it is WAD. Thing is I asked Dain (who supposedly fixed this before) how the scrolls behave, and he wasn't sure himself. Some bughunter needs to test it imo. - Elestir

Scroll Identification

Each scroll that loads in Isengard has a letter on it... ID the scroll, and write down the
type of scroll and the letter on it, aslong with the three things it does.

Misc

First of all, s, all e of Yerik is a edesc down. Is it a hidden exit? Hidden Item? Water room with strong flow, pain in the ass to search it.

How do you get to 2n of Yerik?%%% 134% climb isn't enough. The exit is mudlled, as you can tell when you try to search it, it returns the edesc. rope only works down, grappling hook isn't mudlled to throw up/north, or wherever. Piled bales of wheat 20 high, no go still took damage too (50 from fall). Maybe it's a backway out of Isengard just like OOC?

It could be possible to enter with an Istari in meta form, their ability to climb is kind of bugged (they can't automatically climb anything but when done manually they can climb anything without any problem, no matter if they are an eagle or a horse.) A lot of other things about Istari metas are also somewhat buggy, so it is possible that the mudlle wouldn't affect them. - Aralos

I have seen this attempted with someone in meta form, the mudlle pushes them out. - Patience

!Rohan equipment (old)

The following list is very old. Nobody is sure if it is correct. Saruman has been killed, but only once or twice (at least once due to a bug)

Electy apparently found, and ID'd several items, but would not give any info as to where they were found…. But he did give me a URL with the IDs on them. They are the same ones that Gray had on his list for a year or so now, and now they're in the game…

Electy didn't ID anything. This info is from the time Isengard was first considered and the stats are from about 5 years ago. p(Ypsilon) lost his ainu for having the stats on his publicly available eqstat page. So you might as well remove this list.

As of 10/15/2006, an engraved silvery knife and a white ring have been passed to mortal hands (somehow). A BN slew an evil puke who was carrying both. Stats are as follows:

An engraved silvery knife: +10 OB, +10 PB, 8 DAM, -10 SPELLSAVE, EFF. VS SPELL
A white ring: +3 MANA_REGEN, -10 SPELLSAVE (and can be worn with power rings)

Unfortunately, this is all the information I have about this. If anyone knows more about how to obtain these items, please post it here.
-Belamir

Yes, Saruman has been killed, but after that he has been changed, so it is no longer possible.

Add your findings about Rohan for all to share.

The zones around Rohan have the same mudlle as the Redhorn pass, you can port west from all
zones but you cannot portal to Lorien

As whitie, *DO NOT* hit Saruman, you get align loss from Sent on Arda to Firm Believer.
Despite what he said about reporting me to Cirdan I can apparently still sail.

Saruman seems to be very resistant or maybe even immune to fear.
Once attacked he teleports into Isengard tower and goes out after a tick or two again. /Elestir

An old man, swathed in a great light-coloured cloak, is standing here. (Saruman)
Information specific to the mob Saruman has been moved to the SarumanPage

An old sage, clad in white, is standing here. (Yerik the Sage)
Is Saruman's helper. He triggers on book, palantir, kormanole that we have found so far.
For the book of Kormanole he gave an ivory scroll that looks like vellum:

Identification lists of equipment loading in Rohan has been moved to: RohanEquipment
Haldin the Marshal

(near Rohir Innkeeper - the rent mob - locatable and portable) Asks you to get the spear from Broghha. If you go get it and give it to him then he gives you 5 gold and a Rohirrim horse. (wooo hoo! what a crap quest!)
*Elemmire's top tip:* Haldin rides a Rohirrim horse at pop, he's a lowlevel mob so just sleep him and he falls off his horse which you can then ride away :P
Update: tested again at 16 Nov 04, Haldin is definately still sleepable. The only change I can see is that now the horse wears a saddle so it can't be summoned. You can of course sleep the horse itself. It's a very low level mob then hit it to wake it up and lead it off. This method ends with only a few hours prison in Rohan for casting. - Elemmire
Rohirrim horses remember you if you attack them, though. Does this go away if you rent and then unrent them? - Belamir
Yes, both rohirrim and warhorse forget the attacker after rent /Majesty

At Yerik the sage's room:
A tall farmer has arrived from the south.
A tall farmer struggles to pull the cart with him.
A tall farmer says 'Hello, don't let me disturb, just delivering my goods.'
A tall farmer knocks on the sturdy metal door in the eastern wall.
A tall farmer says 'Wheat delivery as per orders.'
A clutter of rusty hinges is heard as the sturdy metal door swings open.
A tall farmer gets a bale of wheat from a cart.
A tall farmer throws a bale of wheat in through the open sturdy metal door.

While door is open, if you try to go east:

A sturdy barrier blocks the way just beyond the door.

If you go find his farm some west, you can ask him question:

ask farmer wheat
A tall farmer says 'The finest wheat you can find, here in my barn.'
A tall farmer says 'Around here at least. The land is harsh and few can grow
good crop here.'
A tall farmer says 'I do well and sell it for a handsome price to the men in
the fort.'

I am also very disappointed in this new pick upgrade… Now I have to find a way to upgrade my picks again to make them +8 picks…

Saruman

It seems that Saruman asks for different things depending on your level. Lowbies aren't asked for much but I havn't been able to check if the rewards are different too.

Saruman wears fine white cloak and holds engraved silvery knife, he must give these items as a reward. Perhaps for the Palantir?

The rest I have no idea about. I have my doubts that he id'd these items himself, I suspect he's just giving info he read on a page. How can black-feathered arrow give 20 pb?

Ilverin: Erm, I'd like to know how he got these, my guess is, they are made up (FAKE).

These items were made by Fror, so anyone without a V+ can't stat them, and even then,
its iffy (not sure what Fror does about V+ and his items)... And with knife and cloak
loading ON Saruman, with no-one every having recieved them to anyone's knowledge, it is
VERY doubtful that Electy ever laid hands on them.
Inside Isengard (when Saruman called for the gates to open)
!+~ CW HP:Fine Mana:Burning>scout n
You quietly scout northwards...

The Gates of Isengard
Behind the great gates of Isengard a lane is formed, leading northward into
the ring, deeper into the stronghold of Saruman. High above, the vaulted
ceiling shows signs of archery slits and small trapdoors to ease the defense
of the gates. The walls are made of cold black stone, polished smooth.
The stone floor is unmarred and blank, sending echoes as you travel along it.
An Isengard soldier is on duty here, guarding the fortress.

You cannot enter at this time, if you try you get: You are prevented from entering the gate.

The items given by Yerik seem to be completely random. I had recieved picks for cc ring, and picks seem to ALWAYS have 2nd upgrade (at random) on them, however, almost always puke/neutral upgrade.

More Items:

2nd lockpick improve for picks as reward is completely random it seems. /Elestir

Either the reward is based on the price of the item, or there are predefined sets of items. Which items belong to which set is a question. Obviously jewelled rings belong to the best set, and purple scrolls to the worst. /Elestir

I agree with Elestir, I think there's either levels of EQ or groups that you can get, so I'll try and come up with a table, if you could tick off what you get for what we'll see what combinations are possible. Bear with me on the table format, I just read the page on how to make one on a wiki :P /Elemmire

Not to be too rude, but if we could post names as to who puts what up? I don't particularlly like finding out theories are wrong, and posting here doesn't really give me a chance to ask later. :) -Schmidt

I wasn't adding names to anything because I didn't think Wojtek wanted us to Most of the info added here without a name is by me Stuart (Elemmire), any change from a 81.17x.xxx.xxx address is probably me. The trouble has resolved itself, I assumed you had used Ivory scroll to mean clear ivory scroll as just a short form, I thought they had changed ivory scrolls into clear ivory scrolls……

a tiny silvery key

Note that this key is mithril and works for lockpick upgrade in BM

This elegant bejewelled key is obviously a work of elven silversmiths. Its finely wrought silvery head is shaped like the veins of a mallorn leaf, with tiny sparkling jewels of many colours inset along its edge. It is light and remarkably flat, its graceful filigree so fine it looks transparent in shadows.

Loads on the same corpse as the BHSB and roughly stitched cloak at the cavebear. It does not open the wall of twilight in Lorien :)

However!……

The door all w from max missile GM in lorien:

How confusing…… /Elemmire

Some time later…..

tell nienor so is that the way the key is meant to work or is that zone off limits?
Nienor tells you 'it's the way it's supposed to work at this particular moment'
tell Nienor so can you tell me if I'm wasting my time looking for a way in right now?
Nienor tells you 'Maybe you should go look at something else... if smth changes, you'll find out'

So this is part of an unfinished quest. May as well abandon it for now. /Elemmire

Notes of Saruman
Remember that caution is of utmost importance. Try to avoid detection as
far as is possible, but if the situation so demands it, you may use the
locals to help gather information and treasures. Use your wits when
    dealing with possible witnesses.

During your travels, make notes of army movements, both of the forces of
Sauron and the armies of the West. Numbers, routes and force compositions
    are of highest interest.

Focus on ancient books, objects with seemingly inherent power and such
trinkets that are of high value.

  "S"

Another note, this one loads in the pouch the rohir farmer carries

a yellow letter

In elegant writing, the letter states:

As per my orders from Orthanc, I am to inform you about our shortage in
foodstuffs. Your monthly delivery of wheat has been of excellent quality
but not nearly enough to meet our demands in terms of quantity.

If it can be arranged, a tenfold of our usual order would be excellent.
As we enlarge the order this much, we will be understanding, should the
grain be of a lesser quality.
                                   Yerik, Isengard

If you give Yerik OiE book:

give book yerik
Ok.
Yerik the Sage says 'My goodness! This must be that great book our Lord
Saruman mentioned to me.'

Yerik the Sage says 'I know he would like to thank you himself,'

Yerik the Sage says 'but it seems as if you will have to manage with me!'

Yerik the Sage smiles.
Yerik the Sage says 'I will inform him of this deed, be assured of that!'

Yerik the Sage knocks on the rockface in a strange pattern.

Some reply knocks are heard.

A clutter of rusty hinges is heard as the sturdy metal door swings open.

Yerik the Sage passes the book into the opening, and unseen hands take it.

Yerik the Sage reaches into the opening to accept a scroll.

Yerik the Sage gives you a deep ebony scroll.

The sturdy metal door swings shut.

Yerik the Sage walks over to the bookcase, pulls out a book, and begins
reading.

Yerik the Sage says 'On the behalf of Lord Saruman, I beg you to accept this
small token of gratitude.'

Yerik the Sage waves.

Yerik the Sage says 'Come again!'
Very interested in 2 things about Rohan.

First of all, s, all e of Yerik is a edesc down. Is it a hidden exit? Hidden Item? Or just something to piss me off? Water room with strong flow, pain in the ass to search it.

Current seems to be at fixed intervals, so if you walk into the room and wait for the current, then immediately walk back north and search, you have time to finish before the current sweeps you again. Not that I've found anything there yet, but I'm looking! - Belamir

Isengard backway

there used to be backway exit out from Isengard itself when I had still Draggor as builder :D They seem to have rebuilt the whole thing it seems /YpsiloN

Second of all…. How the hell do you get to 2n of Yerik??? This thing is pissing me off, 134% climb isn't enough, and when I talked to a V+ to find out what was the problem because the edesc was misleading, he refused comment. The exit is mudlled, as you can tell when you try to search it, it returns the edesc. rope only works down, grappling hook isn't mudlled to throw up/north, or wherever. Piled bales of wheat 20 high, no go still took damage too (50 from fall) even with all that damn wheat to cushion my sorry ass when I fall…. From the location of it, and the exit u that you see before you fall back down, It wouldn't surprise me if its a backway into Isengard. ANY info here would be appreciated.

Isengard Map

I mapped Isengard with the Palantiri. For now it's in a google doc file for everyone to see, until I figure out how to make it more readable. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ck7HHi0h4veof5lb4oxoUx4HLfMI1P5bbb1pmGWksa0/edit#gid=0

Second page of that document lists all the items that load in the top of the tower. Enjoy. (Karli)
